The woven miniature 03/2024 is a unique, handmade decoration, displayed in a minimalistic wooden frame. The heart of the decoration is a small-scale tapestry measuring approximately 10×10 cm, finished in a minimalist way and protected with glass. The yarns used to make the weaving are scrapes of hand-dyed wool, which we use every day in our workshop to weave larger works. For the dyeing process, we used only natural plant dyes such as dried flowers, seeds, tree bark and plant roots. Every scrap of naturally dyed wool is valuable to us. That’s why we’ve been collecting them for years – they are perfect for weaving smaller forms.
The miniature was made using the traditional kilim technique by one of the artists from the Tartaruga studio.
Each woven miniature is unique, the pattern and colors are not repeated. The work is signed with the serial number, year of production and the name of the artist.
The dimensions of the frame are 22×22 cm, the depth is 3.5 cm. The frame can be displayed on the wall or placed in your favorite place.
Fabrics made using naturally dyed yarns may tend to fade or change their shade over time if exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. We do not consider this as a disadvantage, because it it allows the work to symbolically mature with its owner and the place where it is located. Nevertheless, to avoid potential color fading, we recommend exposing the tapestry in a shaded place.
Please notice that colours and details in reality may vary slightly. It’s due to natural-dyed yarns which may fade out or due to screen settings.
