Or maybe you already have your perfect loom and don’t want to invest in more weaving accessories? If so, it looks like our course is made for you! Weaving large formats on a small loom Large-scale weavings on a small frame is an online weaving course prepared on the basis of our many years of experience in the weaving craft. We’ll not only share our theoretical knowledge with you, we’ll also give you a lot of practical tips, that you wouldn’t learn from any book.

With this course you’ll:
- learn the techniques that we use in the Tartaruga studio every day;
- learn how to make a weaving which is much larger than the working size of your loom using only a small loom and basic weaving tools;
- see how to stretch a longer warp on the small loom;
- learn an aesthetic and hardly visible technique of sewing together several weavings;
- be able to make designs for weavings, rugs and other textiles composed of several elements;
- learn how to select materials depending on the type of your weaving;
- receive 4 sample designs of larger rugs that you can make yourself at home.
Our online weaving course includes:
- detailed description of warp preparation techniques for larger weawings, sewing your weavings together and finishing;
- photos of key work moments;
- videos that show the most important techniques up close;
- practical tips and tricks that will make weaving more pleasant and make your artwork look even better;
- tips on designing kilim patterns for combined weavings;
- four ready-made patterns that you can weave or use them as loose inspiration.
What can you weave with this course:
- flat woven rug or wall hanging with a maximum height of about 100 cm and unlimited width;
- a thicker scarf with a maximum length of about 120 cm;
- a thinner scarf with a maximum length of about 160 cm;
- textiles for table decoration – table runners or table mats;
- smaller blankets;
- a material for cushions or bags.
What do you need to make a weaving from our online course?
- any loom, or weaving frame whose upper and lower bars (between which the warp is stretched) can be unscrewed. If you don’t have such a loom, you can find one in our online store – SEE ALL THE LOOMS IN THE SHOP. And if you don’t know which loom will be suitable for you, write us a message and we will be happy to help you with advice;
- 4 bar clamps– you can get them at any hardware store;
- warp threads and weaving yarns – you can use those from our store. To weave a rug in 90×60 cm size (like the one in the photo) you need about 600-700 g of weaving yarn and about 250 g of cotton warp thread;
- metal needle – you can buy it inour shop
- one A4 sheet of book binding cardboard – you can buy them in aany art supplies store.
- basic weaving skills – our course does not contain information on basic weaving techniques. If you have not had any contact with weaving so far, we recommend our weaving kits with a loom, which will help you to gain basic weaving knowledge and skills. And if you have made at least one weaving in your life, you will surely be able to make a larger fabric from our course.
